Decorating a living room sounds like a must thing to do especially when it influences comfort and family image. However, due to the environment issue, we need to keep it green and in as low budget as possible. Here are several great ideas.
#1. Have Some Plants
We don’t need expensive plants to make it nice. We can even plant grass in a short cubical pot and put it on the tea table to replace flower vase. Put one in a point and combine high and low plants to create balance.
#2. Old Cloth for Linen
This works best on most retro styles. We can recreate the old linen into retro or even vintage linen for the room. Sofa covers, table cloth, and others will be perfect. We don’t need to use new cloth for this.
#3. Build Water Wall
Water wall does not only look so good in indoor. It also gives fresh feeling and fresh air. It helps the air conditioning system by absorbing heat and release cooler air. It helps us to save more energy.
#4. Make High Table from Old Wood
If we have some wood at the storage, we can change it into high decorative console table. We can put several jars on it, preferably colourful, and place them all under the hanging mirror.
#5. Have Some Clays
Instead of displaying vases made of glass or maybe crystal, clay vases will be more original and natural. The green idea is delivered while it also is free of dust often. Put them on tea table or the console table.
#6. Shelf for Art Display
We can make this one with reclaimed timber. Make it simple and hang it on the wall. We can place the small art work we make on top of it. It makes artificial yet very personal and unique display.
#7. Let the Sunlight In
Clean the windows and let the sunlight gets inside the living room. This is maybe simple but it makes the most impression on all decor pieces. In addition to it, it prevents the need for electrical light during the day.
#8. Make Our Own Area Rug
Instead of covering the entire floor with carpet, making our own area rug is a wise decision. We can make it from natural material like corn sugars.
There are still many other great ideas. It all depends on our room condition and maybe our expectation on how it would be. We only need creative idea and try to find green way to make it real.
